Graco Stroller Recall 2010, Quattro and MetroLite Strollers Recalled After 4
Infants Died
Four babies have died from strangulation and this has lead to the Graco
stroller recall. Graco has recalled 2 million Quattro and MetroLite
strollers. The Graco stroller recall affects strollers made between 2000 and
December 2007.
The dangers that the Graco stroller poses is if a baby is under 12 months,
he or she can slip through the stroller tray and seat bottom. The opening is
big enough for the babies body but not big enough for his or her head. This
will cause babies entrapment and cause them to strangle.
The four deaths caused by strangulation from a Graco stroller were not
recent. The deaths occurred between 2003 and 2005. It is a shame it has
taken this long to recall a stroller that poses a danger to children.
However, in other reports submitted to the CPSC there were 5 infants trapped
which resulted in bruises and cuts. There was one report of an infant
having difficulty breathing.
The strollers in the Graco stroller recall are Quattro Stroller sold between
November 2002 and December 2007, Quattro Stroller Travel sold between
October 2002 and October 2007, MetroLite Travel System sold between December
2000 and June 2005 and the MetroLite Stroller sold between November 2000
and December 2007. MetroLite and Quattro strollers ending in 3 are not
affected by the Graco stroller recall.
Many parents will question why this recall took so long after the babies
died. It has been at least five years since the deaths occurred; this is way
to long to wait for a recall of the Graco strollers.
To prevent any injuries or deaths from infant strollers, never leave your
baby unattended. Make sure to strap them in properly so no injuries occur.
