The health insurance of my son is currently with my wife. My wife will
change a job on July 1, 2011 and my wife insurance will begin on August
1, 2011. So there is one month gap that my son will have no insurance.
I plan to add my son to my insurance. However, based on the policy, my
adding insurance for my son will only be effective from Sept. 1, 2011.
Is there a way I can do to have my son have insurance for July 2011?

check your wife's current job's insurance's cobra policy.

insurance加dependant的条款一般都有一条是如果dependant现有的insurance即将失效
就可以加入以避免gap，不一定非要等到open period。你和单位hr check下看看你的
保险是不是这样。
你妻子换工作保险也不一定会立刻失效，很多时候可以通过cobra自己交钱延长现有保
险，这样就可以衔接上下一个保险了，不过cobra通常都挺贵的。。。你妻子也可以和
单位hr check下。

Looks like staying on his current plan as Cobra until August 1 is the only
solution. However, Cobra means your wife have to pay in full for the cost of
the insurance.
