不觉得。比如巴尔扎克，指明了要傍富婆：）
而且作家本身是否清高，与笔下人物是否做作两码事。可以有朴实的，清新的，华丽的
，诡异的，忧郁的，复杂的，种种。张爱玲清高，但她笔下的人物一样生动极富生活气
息。
我个人也不是很喜欢Jane Austin

hehe, users don't care what stuffs are running. They only care if the
application is fast and responsive. I know what you mean. Even the hardware
seems low spec, the iPad may perform better than other netbooks. Hardware+
Software is the system. Hardware only is just a ton of junks.

If it's as responsive as iPhone 3Gs, it's good to go.
The real performance depends on both hardware and software.
One of my buddies has ordered one. If he feels comfortable about it, I may
buy one...

我想4月3号，我会去店里看的。
我一直不明白为什么要preorder，税不是一样要交，当天跑店里去拿不是一样价格，还
能看看附近其他买家，交流一下。

Two years ago my main work horse was a toshiba portege laptop with
P3 533MHz, 192m RAM and 6G hard disk, and I had been using it for 7 years.
Ever since then I've upgraded to an Acer Aspire One with Atom 1.6GHz
+ 512m ram + 8G SSD.
So don't worry about 512m if you are like me.

This is true.
But without 1GB of RAM, many type of Apps can be quite limited.
And also it would be hard to multi-task when the OS is jailbroken, or when
Apple adds multi-tasking function.

but I can't really think of other apps (besides games) that would
require a lot of memory in order to run. At least I don't find a
need for any of them.

My Safari on Mac open use more than 400MB RAM.
I wonder how they can make it much more efficient on iPad.

iphone and iphone 3G only have 128m, and safari deals with
it just fine.
I used Opera in Linux, and it handled most sites well enough
with just 192m physical ram. It's only recently that some
javascript heavy sites become really demanding both in
terms of CPU and ram requirements. But for those, there
are now apps :-)

right, avoid opening too many tabs is a key to browse
under ram constraint.
