There is no native email or calendar app at launch. You need to either tether to a blackberry phone, or use webmail, or specific email app to access emails. There are very few apps available. Yes there will be a VM for android (again not available at launch). However, the developers need to use an SDK to port the android version first, and deploy it on Blackberry world for the user to buy them, instead of users buying them directly from the Android Market. There is no guarantee that the developer of the android app you want will spend the time porting and supporting the blackberry version, or the blackberry version will perform well.
