昨天发帖说拿到两个offer，一个在Detroit，一个在San Diego，不知道怎么选，上来
征求大家的意见。很多人都让我考虑家庭的因素，建议我去SD。谢谢大家的建议，但是
我现在倾向去DT。
我就是考虑到long distance的问题才倾向于Detroit。我和LG都是在南加上的学，都非
常喜欢南加的气候和环境。他去年好不容易找到NY的工作，然后我这学期拖着没交论文
，自己pay了学费，搬到NY去一心找工作。问题就是NY附近很难找到我这个方向的工作
。LG做finance方向的，在南加的机会比较少但是还算是有可能，不过在DT的话，肯定
是不可能。所以我现在好不容易有了offer，想的是先干着，等有点经验过后，试着往
他那边move。
LG上班过后，我在CA和NY两边飞过很多次，每次加上到机场等飞机的时间和路上的时间
，飞一次得要8-10个小时，真是太累了。虽说都要飞，Detroit相对来说飞得轻松太多
，大概一共4小时左右吧。
还有一个原因，SD的工作可能会有点危险，会接触很多高电压的东西，虽说我PhD干的
就是这方向的，难保不会被电到，像高功率产生的辐射这种东西也不好说会不

今年4月份给家人办了B2的延期，过了几个星期收到“Case Receipt Notice"，给了ID
。此后再没收到过任何东西。刚刚上USCIS网站上查status，这是批了吗？怎么没收到
任何邮件呢？！

请问一下，安装完成preware之后，顺便安装的theme如何找到？翻遍download tab也没
有看到 ....
另外，以后每次安装ipk文件是否都必须先进入那个developer mode还是说develop mod
e就是安装webos quick install用的？

如果是 Cymer 的 offer,还是别去了,这公司不太好...我也是听说的.

不需要，安装了preware以后再安装软件之需要在TP里面直接点击那个ipk文件或者打开
preware然后选择安装那个软件的ipk就行，不需要进入developer mode。如果不是单独
的安装文件而是feed里的软件就更简单了，直接点击软件安装就行了。

辛苦码这么多字不容易。两人都是phd的话是很难，尤其你做这个方向。。。很难想象
哪个地方你们能找到一块儿去。如果不能一块儿，就这样long distance着？你能试着
找些finance方向编程之类的工作么，纽约很多的；或者找个什么学校教书，不一定
tenure track?
治安倒不用太担心，再差的地方都有好区。只是南加习惯了再去mid west。。。

Actually it depends on where your ipk file is. If you are installing an ipk
file from your PC to TP, TP should be in developer mode. Although preware
has got a lot of apps and patches, in some cases, you won't find the apps
you need from it (such as the app for the game Need For Speed, which is more
than 200mb).

more
preware可以直接安装ipk，不需要webos quick install，也不需要developer mode。
我讨厌把ipad用线连电脑，所以我安装的独立ipk都是用电脑下载后直接上载到那个50G
的免费Box网盘，然后点击网盘里的ipk就能安装，或者打开preware再browse选择ipk文
件也可以，很方便。
用USB把ipk文件拷到TP里再用上述方法也是一样。
反正我不喜欢每次安装软件都要插线、开电脑，还需要进入developer状态，有点自找
麻烦。

问题是lz你就算在DT攒几年经验就能move到NYC去？工作经验必须是相关的，你做
hybrid car的，干10年到nyc去跟现在去有什么区别?
如果你选择了去DT,那你俩就真的选择了互相不能move到对方城市的道一条路
既然你的方向窄，赶紧让你lg在CA找找，还是有机会的.去了DT，你俩可都没机会了，
虽然飞4个小时比飞一天短多了，但是时间长了也很累

thank you all you guys for your reply. It is very clear.
I was referring to the PC based installation.
By the way, for the NFS insallation, it finished, and I can see
it from the Preware, but it is listed under "unknown" category,
and I would be able to find it on the download tab.
fyi, under the "installed package " in Preware, I have
available pacakges, which I assume to be the apps I can install;
installed packages, and list of everything. futher under the
"installed packages", i have
"application", " linux application", and "Unkonwn", and NSF
for some reason is listed here.

楼上的这么一说，我也觉得挺有道理的。本来已经打算从了Detroit的了，现在又有点
纠结了。况且Detroit那家公司崔我4月19号上班，我现在才开始办OPT，也不知道能不
能办下来，要是办不下来offer会不会被收回。我以前碰到过offer被收回的情况，现在
有点阴影。

long distance的话，当然是好找工作的迁就不好找工作的。不太了解你的工作性质，
但是显然是你lg在NY混一年经验跳到加州更现实一点。

I don't like connecting TP to my PC, either.
Using box app is a great way to install ipk files without all the hassles of
plugging/unplugging. But I gotta say, the upload speed for box is way too
slow, it took me 2+ hours to upload the whole NeedForSpeed(about 280mb) ipk
file yesterday. So it might be applicable for relatively small ipk files, or
someone with a really high-speed internet connection.

You mean "I would not be able to find it", right?
My NFS is in unknown folder too. I assume it's because this app is never
meant to be part of the preware, actually people have to pay $9.99 in HP App
Catalog to buy it.
After the installation, you need to restart your TP to be able to see the
icon under the download tab.

Thanks. Restarting does help for the NFS. However, it does not
help for the other apps I installed using webosquickinstall
even earlier. I got the 2 other apps from this post

the app i installed is sina weibo 1.4.1. Even though I can
see it in the same list as the NFS used to belong.
