要新建一个acadamic entity
名字还没定
focus on socio-technical systems, information and decision systems, and
statistics
会新开几个phd program，包括phd in statisitcs（由于历史原因MIT一直没有stat的
phd program）
各个level的人都会招

在版上学习了良久，终于下定决心进了把
Cherry G80-3000，中规中矩，不求有功
但求无过先。手感比原来的IBM Model M
差些，但是比这两年天天用的Mac Keyboard
那是强出几条街了，但是也不能说Mac就
没好处，至少它很薄，不需要用掌托，可
这个Cherry不用掌托估计手腕一会就残了。
另外这个Cherry居然“F”和“J”上没有
定位点，一时半会还有点不适应，找不着
键位了！

所以名字还没定
statistics肯定会是里面及其重要的一部分，MIT这次要大力加强这块了
现在定下的2个phd program是statistics和complex systems，其他还在考虑中

director和各个committee都已经组建好了
statistics那块可能会慢点，因为先要挖个大牛来镇场。。然后再出具体计划
其他招人最先可能是通过Engineering，Science和Business 3个school来
最后的结构是这个新entity来hire faculty，但appointment还是在3个school下

但有些应该就是现在其他系的faculty直接来占位了

我知道的是按order的序号和时间前后倒过来寄的，越早订的号码越前面的越后寄，我
的四个订单就是这样的。。。最先下蛋的现在等啊等终于allocated了，最后面订的两
个已经收到，中间的在路上。。。

之所以虚就是因为理论体系还没建立起来
对有志于自立一派的人来说就是机会了

你如果指的是应用，搞什么big data那另当别论了，kleinberg兄弟和弟子那一排了。

做network science的是很多我知道
什么系都在做。。做得五花八门。。
我比较感兴趣的是statistics这块的东西，从hypothesis testing, estimation,
sampling开始入手做的
network data和high dimensional data还是很不一样，所以也需要一些新的方法
不知道有哪些大牛是做这个的？想看看他们的文章

当年MJ从MIT走的时候已经是正教授了，TENURE早就拿了，怎么会被踢走。
据我所知当年就是这次会议另一个BERKELEY的统计名人BICKEL建议挖他的。
现在[email protected]已经有几个MJ的徒子徒孙了，足见MJ在MIT的人脉。
