You should do it now. If your incme is low, i forgot the limit, you can save
to education ira, but only 2000 a year. Most Chinese do 529, it is after
tax, no income restriction. The only advantage is you don't have to tax
until you take them out. Check your state 529 first to see if they can
waive your state income. As ny, up to10k is state income tax free. So that
is the amount I save. If you plan to have one more kid, then the first 529
account, if there is any balance left after your first one, you can use to
second one - however, I feel it is almost certain, that you will need more
when time comes :-)
