Samsung GS3 is the biggest contribution to its profit. Sold 20 million
in 100 days. Say one quarter is 90 days, so 18 million GS3 sold in
the quarter. Every phone average can make $250-$300, that would be over
$5B alone from smart phone business.
Where are the other competitors ? HTC made big mistake to make one X
battery not removable, and no SD slot. Otherwise, it should be in the
better position to compete with GS3.
Motorola doesn't have good one to compete, Nokia and Rimm are not
in Android field at all.
Smart phone business has much higher margin than laptop/desktop and
even tablet business as long as the volume is big.

三星不愧是三星，这个数字和苹果同级别了，两个巨人一帮打酱油的。
HTC败的不是产品，是公司规模太小，生产销售渠道都不行。三星一条龙价格优势不
要大太多。什么时候one x能四大carriers同时上市，一个名字，一个版本才有的玩。
Nokia也一样没戏，920是att独占，生产价格又高，等着被收购吧。

这不是讨论amendment吗？现在怎么叫Commity approves，怎么叫pass the floor？什

去年就同级别了，一个占75%的盈利，一个占25%的盈利，没有数量级的差别。
这形势，估计三星今年要缩小差距了。苹果出了ip5这个二货明年被追上都没准。

Senate这是在加速投票啊，在house能拿出Bill前就给他们发过去，看他们顶不顶得住

That's true.
However, if HTC can make good phone, it still can make
a lot of money. Assume HTC pay additional $50 to get better components,
such as better camera CMOS chip, better lens, better material for
the case, and sell at the same price as Samsung one. It probably
will make $50 less than Samsung. That still will be $200 profit
for each phone. If the volume goes up, all R&D cost can be covered,
and for the next generation. It will be in the bargain position
to get components at lower price. It can do the same thing like GS3
in the next version. Samsung GS2 is the turning around point.
Samsung did good job to make all GS3 same shape for all carriers this year.
I would like to see if Samsung can make all the phone with
same and only Samsung software(like iPhone) without junk software installed
by carriers in the next version smart phone.
