AMD Ryzen 2000 series just came out a while back and while it is only a refresh the CPUs have helped AMD gain a lot of traction and market share. The first generation of AMD Ryzen put the company back on the map but then Intel released the Intel Coffee Lake CPUs and beat AMD to it. Mindfactory has shared some statistics and they showed that the Intel Coffee Lake 8700K sold more than the first generation of AMD Ryzen 7 CPUs. These numbers are specific to Germany but they are still very interesting indeed and can apply globally to some extent as well. After that, the AMD Ryzen 2000 series came out and that has helped team Red get back a lot of market share and while the 8700K is the best CPU the AMD Ryzen 2700X is the most popular AMD chip. You can check out the image below for some interesting statistics and comparisons. AMD Ryzen 2000 series It has only been a month since AMD Ryzen 2000 series came out and it is very interesting to see how well the chips are performing especially the 2700X. One of the great things about the AMD AM4 platform is that you need not change your motherboard when getting these new chips and the chips are backward compatible with older motherboards, something that you do not see on the Intel side of things. Other chips like the AMD Raven Ridge APUs the 2400G and the 2200G have also been going pretty well not to mention the 6 core 12 thread AMD Ryzen 2600 and 2600X. AMD Ryzen 2000 Taking a look at the numbers we see a significant increase in AMD CPU market share as compared to before the Ryzen 2000 series came out. AMD and Intel are going at each other once again and it will be very interesting to see how Intel is going to keep on competing in the market keeping in mind that the Intel 10nm process has been delayed once again and AMD is moving forward to the 7nm process. AMD CEO Lisa Su has even confirmed that everything is on time. AMD Ryzen 2000 series chips are based on the 12nm process while upcoming Intel chips will still be based on the old 14nm process. AMD Ryzen 2000 series Let us know what you think about the AMD Ryzen 2000 series and whether or not you think Intel will be able to stay on par with AMD in the coming months.
