I was told retirement account doesn't count towards this promotion, anyone

上个月voice超支了不少，正发愁是不是要跟客服商量升级到下一个tier。结果人家

i deposited money to a non retirement brokerage account, then transferred it
to my FD management account, got UA millage without any problems.
Took me couple of calls to FD to make sure I can do so.

dbmj, thanks for replying.
From my personal point of view, this is not very attractive then, 100K with
1% rate can earn $500 interest, so the opportunity cost for this deal 50K AA
/UA point is $500.

If this is $ you'd invest any way, this is just a different broker. No
opportunity lost.

Funny thing is 25K can get you 15000 miles, the rate is higher than 100K for
50K miles or 50K for 25000 miles.
Simple math tells me, if you only have $50000 to invest, then you and your
LD should both open an account, put in $25000 and get 30K miles.
Consider 1% interest rate for half year, 30K miles cost you $250. Not a bad
deal.
