Here's a bit intro to my status: I just got my EB1B 140 approved, and I am
preparing to submit the 485.
Throughout the whole 140 application process, the most stressful thing for
me was not the limited time that I had to squeeze out for this, not the
efforts that I had to spend to draft the reference letters, not even the
agony to think how my case would end up with, but the thoughts on how I
should evaluate myself.
When the references did not answer or rejected your request, what would you
think?
"Is it me who is worthless that he doesn't want to help?"
"Is it me who is offensive in any way so that he doesn't want to respond?"
"Is it me who is so unlucky that I may never get enough letters?"
"Is it me who is a loser so that I can't get his approval?"
The truth is that none of the above is true, and they are just horrible
thoughts, which can be easily dispelled when we see them as false.
The reason for any unsuccessful request could be just that that person is
mean by personality, he does not check emails often, or he doesn't think his
research field is similar enough to mine.
By using the same requests, we can often get many other positive responses,
from other nice, responsive, and understanding people. It's not me at all,
it's them who are different.
So, how about another thought that "If I get an RFE or NOID, then my case is
hopeless, and I am a failure."?
The answer is that it's not true at all, either. There are so many approved
cases after RFE and NOID, and it's another opportunity to present oneself in
the best way, and to allow the careless IOs one more chance to evaluate
this case. How do I know that this is true? Here's the role model:

present an evidence. Best yet, it teaches one what is failure and what is
success.
