从版面上同学们报的，是FP以后大概一个月左右，就card production了，你往回推算

FP notice typically comes 2 weeks to 4 weeks later than 485 RD. The FP date
is often 2 weeks later than the FP notice date. You may try early walk-in
once you get the FP notice. However, there are people on this board who get
FP notices much later than this, and they need to do SR, etc.
So the earliest date you can leave is perhaps 1 month since the 485 RD.

I notice that this FP date seems to be related to location, as my colleagues
share very similar waiting time, and we of course use the same local office
. If you know your friends nearby who have recently submitted 485, their
info should be helpful to you.
So, if this FP notice comes as expected, there's no surprise there. But if
it does not come on time, then it's not a sure thing when it'll finally come
, even after SR.

Only H and L visa holders are okay to leave and return without an AP. But
they need to have valid H/L visa stamps (not just the 797 change of status
approval).

我的case是485交后一个月去做的FP。收到的FP notice会给你一个约定的时间，你到时
候必须要show up的，或者如果你不能如约，需要再重新给他们发信申请另外的时间。

我之前还没有注意这一点，我H1b已经approval了，但是护照上面签证还是几年前的J1.
现在485已经递上去了，如果我在AP没有下来之前离境回国485是不是就自动作废了？

no，最多AP作废，和485无关。
而且你现在H1B，AP不作废
