Just received D90/18-105 and 70-300. For 5-year lens warranty, I was told to
mail back the registration form within 10 days purchase. I have two
questions: first, they were ordered in amazon on 06/14 and shipped on 06/21
and I received them on 06/25. What should I put as purchase date on the
registration form? second, there are two pages. Should I keep the first page?
Also, there is no warranty form for the D90 body. Is it normal? Actually, I
doubt Amazon did not ship me a new D90, as the plasti

苹果的新品上市，引来大量的吐槽。有人直呼上当，说5c的c不代表cheap。还有人揶揄
所有iPhone的颜色。先不论新iPhone山寨不山寨，或者网上的舆情如何，我们仅仅来看
Phil Schiler在发布会上讲的"The most forward thinking phone"到底是指的什么。
5c比较有争议，5s则是有相当的硬件更新。M7, A7.
M7的意义在于它是个超低功耗的always on的sensor处理器。
我们为什么需要一个超低功耗的sensor处理器？这是因为苹果想要把iPhone变成一个真
正的“智能”手机。
举个例子，很多人也许并不知道的Siri的raise to speak的功能。这个功能要求iPhone
先处于解锁状态，从正常的使用状态（比如浏览网页），到举起来贴近耳朵的时候，
Siri就可以自动开启。这个就是Accelerometer and proximity sensor协同作用的结果
。但是，如果手机并不处于解锁状态，这个feature就没有意义。但如果有一个超低功
耗的处理器一直监控所有sensor的状态，当有用的information存在的时候，M7可以把
A7唤醒，进行更复杂的信号／信息处理。那么，这将把iPhone变成一个随时随地都对其
自身状态responsible的智能设备。
这个idea本身并不新颖，比如早些时候moto推出的moto x就有一个always listening的
feature也是同样的意思。他们必须要有一个足够小功耗的处理器24/7的运转（或者在
夜间自动关闭），才能做到这一点。M7的意义也在于此。但是目前的iOS能有什么样的
always on的feature，这还得拭目以待。
再来说说A7。A7的最大亮点即是其64bit的处理器。
当大家还在争论不休64位有什么好的时候，Samsung，苹果最大的竞争对手和copy cat
，在发布会后不到48个小时，就迫不及待的宣布，他们下一代的手机也将采用64位的处
理器。如果说64位没什么新颖的，干嘛samsung要这么心急呢？观望一下市场不好吗？
这就是三星的本色了。他们永远都是一个copy cat。首先三星下一代手机要将在9到12
个月后才能进入市场，以目前移动手机AP的发展速度而言，12个月已经是近一倍的速度
提升了。更重要的是，整个Android手机的更新还得依靠Google的新发布，这将对软硬
件的整合带来很多的问题。三星的问题不是会不会做的问题，而是没有真正的vision，
不知道该做什么。这次三星赶着做了一个智能手表，而苹果若干年前的iPod Nano已经
具备大体的功能了。
那么，究竟64位的有什么好？很简单，内存寻址嘛。windows操作系统从32位升级到64
位就是为了更大的内存寻址空间。更大的内存寻址空间意味着更加绚烂多姿的操作系统
及更强大的运算能力。这又意味着什么呢？如果你关注了早些时候新版mac操作系统的
发布会你就知道了，新的mac os借用了很多iOS的feature！世界到过来了，不是iOS学
mac os了，而是mac os学iOS了！当然这个仅仅是表象而已。真正的着眼点在于强大的
移动运算将来会一统天下。微软在移动时代到来之前赚了多少黑心钱大家都知道，这就
是他操作系统一统天下的好处。苹果面临的最大的威胁，目前来看，就是Android，如
果没有forward thinking，怎样去跟Android争啊。
遗憾的是，市场反应不好。苹果的确缺少Marketer和Negotiator。Tim Cook的新品发布
令人昏昏欲睡。China Mobile的deal迟迟不能谈妥。新产品（other than iPhone）还
不知道在哪里。iPhone 5的设计是Jobs当年敲定下来的。iPhone 5S必然是个升级版本
。5C是打的青少年牌。下一代产品，才是最重要的考验Tim Cook领导一家创新公司最重
要的时刻。

Don't mail anything to Nikon, save them for Nikon lifetime warranty.
Plastic bags should not be opened but it's normal if it's slightly broken.
Best way to test if the camera is new is to taken one picture and check if
the shutter actuation is 1.

Thanks. It was totally opened at the closed end of plastic bag. I've taken
about 100 pictures. Could I still check if it is new by shutter actuation?
By the way, how to check shutter actuation?

check exif information of your picture, it will tell you how many pictures
were taken.

By the way, when I took off the accessory shoe cover, I see heavy dust on
one edge (the area in the slot)...

Sounds like used. Check the actuation count.

新机shutter actuation也不会是1吧，出厂应该测试吧？有100左右是不是也是正常的？

Is it total number of shutter releases? I installed Panda IEXIF 2, and found
that number is 10 for the first picture I saved (I deleted a few earlier
pictures). That means my D90 is brand new?

别的品牌的不清楚，但是Nikon新出厂的一定是0，否则就是被人按过快门了。

关于Nikon warranty我都说过无数遍了。
买了以后不要寄任何东西给Nikon，也别在Nikon注册你买的东西。
需要保修的时候把相机/镜头外加空白保修卡寄给Nikon，附上一张小纸说这个是gift（
写一下estimated purchasing date)，然后Nikon会根据你估算的purchasing date算保
修的起始日。注意千万别寄original receipt，否则等于缩短了你的保修时间。
所以Nikon的东西基本就是终身保修。
