08/14/2015: Details of DOS Immigrant Visa Modernization Proposals Still
Remain in the Dark Closet
AILA's inquiry with Mr. Charlie Oppenheim of the Visa Bureau of the U.S.
Department of State on 08/13/2015 indicates that in the coming years, the
visa modernization proposal will bring a postive change by two actions: One
of allocation of immigrant visa numbers early in a fiscal year. Additionally
, the visa modernization is also considering "other options," to improve the
visa cutoff dates. Mr. Oppenheim did not elaborate what the "other options"
that are being considered now behind the dark closet now. Immigrants need
to endure some more patience!
