We have greencards. We are applying for US Citizenship.
One of the questions in Part 10 of N-400 reads "Have you EVER been a member
of or associated with any organization, association, fund, foundation, party
club, society, or similar group in the United States or in any other place?"
I am the member of ACM (www.acm.org) (professional organization for computer
science) for several years.I believe almost every Computer Scientist are/
were members of ACM for some years.
My I485 also mentioned that I am a member of ACM. So, in N400, I need to
mention I am a member of ACM again again, right?
two questions:
1. will this impact my application of N400?
2. will this delay my application of N400?

yes, including your professional association (now and past). No bad impact
of such kind of organizations to your application (maybe good impact)

if I include such organization, N400 requires a written explanation to
explain 1: why yes, 2) additional information.
Could someone provide such a sample letter?
or I just check no. is it ok? in this way, I do not need to write a letter...
