我娃学校注册了raz-kid，每个娃的名字都在上面，每个娃的阅读水平都有相应的网上
阅读材料和测验。

我想问问，阅读方面是应该理解和阅读（认字）同时进行吗？就是在孩子能够全部读下
来后，同时要能理解故事的意思。或者说，顺着孩子阅读量的增多，孩子的理解能力也
会相应的提高。谢谢！

Your understanding is right to the point.
My child learned all new words through reading and he can explain the
meaning of a new word from the context. As to the main idea of a passage or
a story, a child will get it eventually after reading the same stuffs
several times. That's one of the reasons why I recommend buying books
instead of borrowing books: easy to reinforce prior knowledge.

Self-taught. This might be the only subject for which I did not hire a tutor.
The other day he mentioned to me that he did not learn
anything new from his English class this year. Also he mentioned that when
they took a kind of standard test for reading comprehension at the start of
the English class, his score 2100+ is the equivalent of the level of a
college sophmomore . . .
