oh well, the joke is on me then. no better way to wake up than getting
punched in the face. so brace for impact, as i am about to go off:
with all due respect for Terminator as a senior photogear member:
let me first of all clarify where i am coming from: unlike you sir who has a
lustrous list of expensive lenses, i had spent a grand total of less than $
1000 on photography stuff before i blew $2000 on this lens. ain't no easy
decision let me tell you. got the lens, tried it out in less than lab-
perfect conditions, the pictures came out ok, but lacked that wow factor i
was looking for. did some more shots, thought about it, and came up here to
see what others have to say. ain't bitching about anything and i am fully
aware of my photographic incompetence, but really just wanna make sure that
my copy was ok, and rest assured. i would not have been so fuzzy about it if
it were $100. that's just how i felt, and i won't apologize for that.
now if any part of that thread rubs anyone the wrong way the slightest bit,
feel free to criticize me. if you read the entire thread, plenty of people
pointed out what i was doing wrong, or simply that my expectations were
unrealistic, and i had zero issue with those comments. in fact that's what i
look forward to: i embrace critique and criticism in whatever package they
come in, because they help me get better. read my posts you will see i am
genuinely grateful for people's advice and criticism.
that being said, it baffles me how a mocking thread like this one can serve
that purpose. i can understand that i might have upset you one way or
another, so feel free to criticize me all you want, but at least stay on the
path of photography. even if you think i am not worthy of photography talk,
and just want to do general harm on me personally, at least have the guts
and courtesy to post in my thread and BLAST RIGHT INTO MY FACE. posting
another thread separately with a hidden agenda? hard to sink any lower than
that.
and please, if you wanna mock me, at least do a half decent job. what's with
shooting moving subjects with a 1 second shutter? my test was with eyes
looking at real life photos, and i happen to believe real world practice is
the best way to test any equipment. granted that's not the most scientific
way to test a lens, but at least they are shot with more or less proper
techniques. i did not shoot sports with a 1 second shutter and come out here
bitching what's wrong with this lens, did i? the way you had it, might as
well say i know i am blind, but why can't i see anything? or i know i am
retarded but why can't i do this differential equation problem? (no offense
to retarded or blind individuals) geez, these days people wanna be funny but
don't actually know how to be funny, which is becoming a society-wide
disease. ok that part i was bitching.
in the end i have this to ask you, what does a thread like this one really
accomplish? humiliating and discouraging a fellow photogearist? that part
certainly well done. entertaining the others? probably a good attempt. but
more than anything else, what kind of enormous gratification does this bring
to you that you think is absolutely necessary for you to carry on with your
life? i am rather curious.
one last thing, for the love of icecream, you did not go out after reading
my thread and intentionally shoot blurry pictures like that just to come
back and mock me did you? goodness me. if that kid in the picture is yours,
don't ever tell him/her how that picture is used here, won't make good
parenting. just saying.
would like to hear what you have to say. peace.
