ARM要追上Intel的性能，五年之内没有可能，十年也悬。

有什么评论吗？我觉得CPU斗争形势发展很快啊。

知道啊，不矛盾啊。intel最新的atom芯片能耗性能上与a15有一拼。但是整个mobile界的
厂商都害怕intel，intel也不愿趟low margin的混水。
服务器上margin高多了，为了最高性能10%的提高，需要20%的力气，ARM到那个时候估
计要出140w的芯片了。intel的制程提前所有人两代，光这个就搞死了按摩店。
啥时候intel开放它的fab就真正“斗争形势发展很快”。

这个和A15一样，是和新一代工艺有关，我的外行了解是
a9：40nm
a15: 28nm
a57： 14nm?
性能的提高是工艺+新arch
前面的同学说的对，intel不愿意也不可能做low margin业务，不过arm做出来intel
x86的性能还需要很长的时间，也许10年。
不过对intel股票是很糟糕的问题，最现实的就是，有atom的win8 pc/tablet出来了，
会影响其高端产品，这个是intel以前最讨厌而且禁止的。

If ARM got 3x performance boost, then it will compete with Intel's big cores
like Haswell, I don't think it will win at all. this is purely bluffing.
ARM has some perf/power advantage for small core, when you get to server
level CPU, the ISA difference is dissapearing. Internally, X86 core is also
RISC. We are living in the same physical world, ARM does not have any
other magic to make it faster than Intel, plus, Intel has process advantage.
It is really just a joke..

If ARM got 3x performance boost, then it will compete with Intel's big cores
like Haswell, I don't think it will win at all. this is purely bluffing.
ARM has some perf/power advantage for small core, when you get to server
level CPU, the ISA difference is dissapearing. Internally, X86 core is also
RISC. We are living in the same physical world, ARM does not have any
other magic to make it faster than Intel, plus, Intel has process advantage.
It is really just a joke..

On technology side, you could be right.
For those Shenzhen Shanzai OEM, Freescales is willing to sell $14/piece for
Cortex dual core A9, with minimal order of 1k piece.
Allwinner charge $6~8/piece for Cortex A8.
Rockchip charges about $10/pieceCortex dual Core A9, which is about the same
speed as Atom.
Mediatek is not resting.
Atom will charge more with bigger minimal order.

For mobile application, those computation intensive jobs will be offload in
cloud like Siri. Even in office, we more and more use our PC to read email
or write document only, serious work is on the server.
