为什么用turbo tax报股票时，对一个long term loss的股票，计算出来的loss不是
cost basis减去sale price？
比如，我在11年买了xyz股票，花了3000；到2012年卖了2500，为什么最后这支股票的
loss不是500,而是100？而wash sale loss也是500. 这究竟是怎么算的？

yes, I did buy it back later.
I looks like I need to google some basic tax knowledge for stocks.
Any good links? Resource? I did google for an hour, but could not get a full
picture.

If you are not able to google out the info you need in 5 seconds, you are
not using the keywords you need.
Just search for "wash sale", the first link would be this:
