"Zeiss just posted a set of new pictures and one of those pictures seems to
have been taken with a new 85mm f/1.2 G SSM II lens! At least that’s what
the EXIF data is saying. I don’t think Zeiss modified the EXIF data to fool
of their readers. I also think that’s an A-mount lens because the same
page contains other pictures made with adapted A-mount lenses. This would be
finally a great news for A-mount folks. A new exciting lens to show us all
Amount is well alive! Of course expect that lens to not come for cheap: The
Canon 85mm f/1.2 costs about 2000 Dollar/Euro (here on eBay). The manual
focusing Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 (here on eBay) costs much less but of course
it’s manual focusing only and I expect the SOny to have a much higher IQ.
Sony is expected to announce new E-mount (and maybe A-mount lenses) next
week right before the start of the PhotoPlus show.
UPDATE: All I know from trusted sources is that indeed Sony’s plan is to
launch a new 85mm lens. Don’t know if it’s the one leaked by Zeiss or a
new 85mm f/1.4 SSM lens"
