ABC, but very conservative and traditional, can read/speak Chinese.
Ivy League undergrad and grad degrees. Successful (top 1%) and busy -
typical hedge fund hours.
My college sweet-heart, and mother of two (youngest is 3) left me for
someone “better”. I love the kids and visit on weekends, but I don’t know
what to do with my life.
1. Should I start a new family ?
Starting a family is very tiring (I had a less stressful job but came home
just in time to see kids to bed. The weekends are better). But getting
remarried and NOT having kids seems unfair to new wife.
2. Pre-nup ?
Last time I got married, I had $200 to my name. 13 years later, she left me
AND got a 7-figure payout. I need to protect myself next time. What if
nobody wants me with pre-nup ? Does that mean she love me or my bank account
?
3. Should I stay single, even though I want a stable relationship and normal
life? Even the most understanding girl would have issues when I visit kids
on the weekend. I feel ambivalent choosing my happiness over my kids’ …
Thoughts ? Thanks.

Household 1% starts at $350k in 2005, but it's very non-linear.
Investing pays well, but the stress, esp during drawdowns, isn't fun.
Your career could end in the next 15 mins. Front-desk sounds glamorous, but
I won't want my daughter to marry its employees.

I think pre-nup is normal in your income range for the 2nd marriage.
Your ex-wife deserves a 7 figures payout. After all, she invested her best
13 years on you. Think yourself as a penny stock during the time you married
her, high risk high return would be normal. Since you had well established
wealth and career now, having a pre-nup should be normal for your coming
marriage. But no woman would want to marry you if you can't let her to feel
secured. I guess how you set-up the pre-nup terms would be the key. After
all, your talent and your wealth are a part of you as well.
