You have until April 15 of the following calendar year to make a Roth IRA
contribution for any tax year. For example, a Roth IRA contribution made in
March 2010 for the tax year 2009 starts the five-year clock on January 1,
2009.
我的问题是，我先在一个broker那开了roth ira account，make a contribution,几年
后在另一家broker开了roth ira account,再contribute,那么这个contribution的5 -
year clock 是从哪里算起？是以我人生中第一笔contribution为依据，还是以这个帐
号的第一笔为依据？谢谢大家为我释疑。

虽然经常潜水Biology，理应发在那里。不过Biology精华区实在乏善可陈，申请博后期
间还是在postdoc精华区能找到点相关内容，所以发在postdoc版，转发到Biology好了。
潜水已久，很爱看biology众生相谈东论西，嘻笑怒骂，现在拿到postdog offer，申请
到一阶段，写下经历，给同样寻觅者及后人点可兹的借鉴，也算回报版面吧。
先说下个人大概情况，差别太大的就可以跳过不看本文了，节省时间。
PhD学校：美国，排名中等，非top 20。
导师：非大牛，无CNS发表经历，不social，network平平，serious scientist
本人概况: 今年刚发一篇jbc水平paper，另有一两篇manuscript在投或将投。
Aim: Big labs（近几年平均约一两年1-2篇CNS水平research ariticle的lab）, 不同于
PhD研究方向，相当于换field。
下面谈谈申请。
A：时间。
我是9月开始准备申请和递送材料的。据说这个时间比较好，原因如下：
1、Summer刚刚结束，实验室人员包括PI的schedule从labor da

usually starts with the Roth IRA that received the earlier funding.
