University of Connecticut Department of Computer Science and Engineering is
looking for a postdoctoral fellow.
The candidate should have interdisciplinary research experience in the areas
of machine learning and bioinformatics. This position requires a strong
background in mathematics and statistics. Specifically, the candidate must
be able to develop mathematically rigorous and computationally efficient
algorithms for state of the art problems in bioinformatics or machine
learning.
The candidate will be involved in two National Science Foundation Grants
with one for machine learning and the other for bioinformatics research of
complex diseases using machine learning algorithms. The successful candidate
must exhibit excellent organizational skills, have a demonstrated record of
research publications at major machine learning or bioinformatics venues,
and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
The candidate will be expected to attend weekly lab meetings, mentor
graduate students, attend conferences to present the results of their
research, and participate in grant proposal writing activities.
Basic qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, or
Mathematics, or Statistics by the time of appointment.
