hm, my question is specifically for gnutella, how do you find another servent
to connect to? Is there a list of IPs I can try to bootstrap into the network?

you keep a cache of previously known peers. When you start up next time, you
try each peer in the cache until you find one online.
Normally there are some nodes that serve this perticular purpose (so are
always online).
