Open Application in Philips Research China (Chemistry)
Department Description:
Philips Research is a highly multi-disciplinary research institute aiming at
providing leading innovative solutions to the Philips businesses. In many
innovations, chemistry and materials science play a key role. Examples of
these include innovations for our Lighting sector, where both fundamental
and applied work that involves a combination of chemistry, physics and
materials science is needed to deliver new solutions in the areas of LED,
OLED and laser light sources. Other examples include sensors and flexible
electronics, which find their way into all sectors of Philips (Lighting,
Consumer Lifestyle Solutions and Healthcare). Typical examples of chemistry
profiles in these areas are nanotechnology, materials – device performance
relationships, solid state chemistry, physical chemistry, and photonic
materials.
A close relation to the business is paramount to match customer needs with
required new technology. Moreover, to come to a full solution to customer
needs, an intense interaction with other disciplines is mandatory. Excellent
communication skills are therefore an indispensable element of the
innovative strength in Philips Research.
Your Responsibilities:
As a research scientist you will work on research projects for a market
sector of Philips (Lighting, Consumer Lifestyle or Healthcare) or sometimes
for a corporate project. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams that are
strong application focused. You will develop new concepts and translate them
into options for innovations with industrial relevance.
You will keep on developing your knowledge via networking, conferences,
scientific articles, etc.
External exposure (for example by means of scientific publications) and
external collaborations (for example with universities or in the context of
local and/or global research projects) are highly encouraged.
Your Profile:
We are constantly looking for highly qualified Chemistry scientists (MSc,
PhD, PhD+PostDoc or industrial R&D experience). You are a team worker and
customer/goal oriented. You also have the mindset of an entrepreneur. You
have a flexible and open mind and you are willing to enter new areas of
industrial research.
Other important aspects are:
• a genuine technical curiosity
• well-above-average results from a (technical) university
• outstanding creativity and self-powered work attitude
• good communication skills
• ability to work in an interdisciplinary scientific environment
Do you fit this profile? Then we might have the job for you! Our high-tech
campus, new clean-rooms, advanced infrastructure and most of all our teams
of world-class scientists are available for you to make your and our dreams
come true.
Your knowledge and know-how will be decisive in determining where you might
fit into Philips Research. In other words: it is your talent that will guide
us. So make sure that besides the cover letter you give us at least:
• a listing of your grades
• a short description of your Master’s work or PhD thesis
• a list of your publications
• a specification of the areas of research you are most interested in
• details on how you can be contacted
Please note that this vacancy is only related to Chemistry candidates. If
you have a different educational background in the area of Biology,
Electronics or Computer Science then please use the other open profiles of
Philips Research.
Please do not apply to more than one ‘open’ vacancy.
Interested candidates please send your application materials to Emily Qian
at E********[email protected], and specify where you see this position
advertised.
