作者是Eleanor Est。这本书在1944年的Newbery Award名单上，但不是最后的winner。
我没看过这本书，只看了amazon上的编辑评论，觉得挺吸引人的。讲的是在战争中
小男孩Rufus Moffat怎样用他自己极富想象力的方式生活的。

顺便我也推荐两本书，
第一本是《Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some
Soup, and a Spool of Thread》，作者是Kate DiCamillo。这本书是2004年的Newbery
Award winner。讲一只与众不同的小老鼠怎样救了豌豆公主的故事，有点颠覆童话的
意思。故事里面，叙述人时不时的插入自己的评论和解释，于是看书的时候就好像能
感受到一个讲故事的老人在微笑和叹息一样。所以这故事就特别适合念出来，讲给小孩
听。我觉得适合十岁以下的小孩看，大家谁家里有孩子可以考虑这本书。

i didn't find the house of the scorpion so got another z- 2194 eye ear arm
detectives instead. the tone of the book is slightly patronizing and that
made the reading less pleasant.;P

这本书我没看过，兴许跟the house of the scorpion风格不一样？:(
对了amazon上可以看这本书的第一章，不过我觉得第一章最难看，呵呵。

i have the opposite experience.;) found the opening cute, then was dulled
little by little by the later plot. the problem is that i am too old to feel
for the adventure nancy farmer weaved for her chars. on the other hand, her
irony toward society i could relish being at an advanced age. the narrative
was cool, clever, humourous and analytical. all the way i was conscious of
this elegant narrator, which dimed the fun coz it made the reader look at the
story from an outsider's point of view

因为原书属于青少年文学，所以英文比较简单，也没什么生词，而且故事特别吸引人，所
以不知不觉就看了一夜。:)
