Some experience of my own, not to dictate returnees’ future but just
predict some trends.
My wife and I both have returnee experience.
My wife is from top-20 school from China, maybe top 5 in her major. Her
school here at US is also similar – so-so in overall ranking but strong in
the specific major she studied. She became a returnee 3 years ago and her
base salary + bonus + annual Expat allowance was around $180,000 before tax
per year. There were other benefits but they were either not cash b

完全是心态，到了中国就非要牛，不牛就感觉不行了，可是在美国也就是个普通码农民

Honestly, I disagree. In US, you might be average people but you can easily
(at least most Chiense here) get a house and 2 cars. But in China, if you
are average, you get just a little bit more than nothing.

Well, If you are an average guy in a first or second tier city, you get one
condo and one car probably. Not that
bad...
We friends chatted about it the other day, data shows that (or rumor has it?

families have an average annual income of something like 134,000 RMB, which is about

Indeed. I talked to some of the so called elite in China. Their theory is
very simple - It is impossible that average Chiense get American style life,
so China will only see the a few elitle standing on top of the majority
average people.
Unfortunately, such a structure is not sustainable neither stable. The
solution will be either China's population goes down in 20-30 years
singnificanly or we have another bloody revolution. This is why a lot of
rich people are moving their family and their mon
