Intelligence Analysts
£24,750 + benefits
UK based
Spotting connections. Identifying patterns. MI5 Intelligence Analysts do
this every day. We are the dedicated men and women who work to help
safeguard the security of the nation. We investigate threats to national
security including terrorism and espionage, protecting the UK’s
infrastructure and preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction. You
could join us.
What the role involves
Being an Intelligence Analyst is a rewarding, stimulating and challenging
career. You’ll turn your analytical skills to a unique challenge. Assessing
data from a variety of sources. Providing critical support at the heart of
our investigations. Making informed recommendations as to the directions our
investigations should take next. Results will not come easily, but each
intelligence breakthrough you make could prove a crucial turning point.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll need proven experience of data analysis. An advanced knowledge of
analytical software applications such as Excel, Access and SPSS is vital.
You’ll also understand how to identify data trends and patterns using a
range of tools and techniques. Creative and able to think clearly under
pressure, you’re comfortable explaining complex information to non-
technical audiences and able to work within a team.
Training and development
Our training will help you build on your existing skills to meet these new
challenges. There will be ongoing mentoring and support throughout your time
here. Although you will start your career in London there will also be
opportunities for you to work in Northern Ireland or one of our regional
offices.
Discretion is vital
Discretion and integrity are crucial qualities. Few people will know about
the role that you will play. They won’t realise your contribution to
helping to protect their way of life; but you and your team will, and that’
s all that matters. Before you apply, it’s important to ask yourself
whether you have what it takes to be quietly successful.
Owing to the sensitivity of our work, we do not publicly disclose the
identities of our staff. You should not discuss your application, other than
with your partner or a close family member.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply, you must be a British Citizen and over 18 years old.
Applications may take around six months to process due to the recruitment
and vetting process.
The Security Service is committed to reflecting both equal opportunities and
the society we protect.
