实际目的是看将出生的孩子，想让我爸在这里呆个把月（放完假回去教书），妈妈呆半
年；可是这要分开解释很乱，而且万一只有爸爸签过就悲剧了。所以索性说都呆3个月-
--不知这方法可行不。
有利条件还有他们有两套房产，可这一封信里解释太多他们的financials不知会不会起
反作用。
Dear Visa Officer,
We are writing this letter to invite my parents, Baba Baba and Baba Mama, to
visit U.S. the second time for travel and family reunion.
During the visit, my parents will live at our recently bought house at XXX,
California. Our family would enjoy the 2012 spring festival together. Also
we would like to take my parents around San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite
National Park, and, if time permitted, we would like to take a trip to Los
Angeles and San Diego.
My parents won’t stay here long because my Dad need to go back to China to
continue spring semester teaching at XXX College; further, in later 2012, he
need go to XXX, Shandong to process his retirement and starts to enjoy his
retirement pension as well as company paid health insurance. My mom will go
with him because she is also required to be physically present for yearly
renew of her retirement pension.
Your help in facilitating their applications will be greatly appreciated.

here is what I have for my parents. They used them for the last three visits
, (each time 1 year) and just used it again for the this month and got the
visa.

To: United States Consulate General Shanghai
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am currently working as xxx in xx, xx state. I would like to invite my
parents to visit my family for a short period of time in Sept. I would like
them to spend some time with me, my husband and three grandchildren
together and I also plan to take them on some tours to the western coast.
They will stay with me and I will be responsible for the expenses during the
stay in USA. As you can see from my supporting documents, I have sufficient
financial resources to support them besides my regular income from my
employer.
In order to facilitate your processing of my parent’s visa application, I
have prepared the following documents to present to you in addition to the
required application forms when she applies for the visa:
 Copy of my passport
 Copy of my pay stub(semi-month)
 Copy of my statement of Bank
 Copy of my Stock account statement
I sincerely wish you could issue my parent the appropriate visa to come to
visit me. And they promise to go back to China in time. All the other family
members and my sister’s family, my grandparents are all in China. If you
need further information, you can easily reach me at my home phone xxx or my
office number xxx

我为什么要这样改
每一个改的地方是不是都有针对性，
有没有哪句话是多余的
必须要每一处改动都对你make sense
有任何地方你觉得不make sense的或者不理解的，都不要用

can be helpful in this process.
My parents plan to visit U.S. in January. During their month long visit,
they will stay with my family in our newly bought house at XXX,
CA. We will celebrate the Chinese New Year together. We also plan to visit
San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite National Park.
My parents will return to China before spring semester starts at XXX College
, where my father is a professor. Later in 2012 he also
needs go to XXX, Shandong to process his retirement so they can start
enjoying all the state-paid benefits. My mom will also have retirement-
reated procedures to go through. In addition, they have multiple real-estate
in China, which they need to take care of as well.

不是打消你的积极性和热心啊，完全就事论事，对文不对人（尤其是你这样的好心人）
就从我个人的理解和观点来看
这个是典型的精华区样板型文章，不但重点错误，而且充斥着不相关的信息
你父母能签过，第一次应该是运气好或者其他材料强，后面几次都是因为他们以前的纪
录好。我个人认为，这封信没有多大的作用，如果不是反作用的话

开篇就大量讲自己的情况。本来签证官关心的是申请人，写给签证官的信要帮助申请人
突出自己的优势（在很多有利的东西没有时间被问到的情况下，只能利用这个机会主动
展现给签证官），可是这里却大讲邀请人的情况。而且主动提孩子，绝大多数人都认为
这个是个大忌，因为直接让签证官联想到是来长期带孩子的。如果孩子上幼儿园或者学
校，后面还要解释，浪费篇幅

显得邀请人有钱，申请人没钱

大量篇幅显得邀请人有钱，申请人没钱
从头到尾就没有提过申请人和中国的经济纽带，反而显得在申请人看来，美国应该遍地
是黄金
所有这些材料都应该备着没错，但是作为申请人的主打优势来推销，就显得喧宾夺主，
适得其反了

为什么签证官要听你的呢？
如果只是表达一个愿望，没有人写信不是为了帮助申请人的。这句话如果不是完全多余
，就是起到了让签证官觉得你在提要求的作用。学生交上来的考卷，题目答得好，不用
写“I sincerely wish you could issue me an A.”你也一样会给。否则这句话再写
多少遍也没有用。
And they promise to go back to China in time.
他们向邀请人保证么？申请人向签证官直接发誓都没有用的。这句话显得多余且牵强，
让签证官觉得申请人心虚。好比在学生考卷上还没有看到答案，先看到“I promise my
answer will be all correct”一样

这是这封信唯一有信息量的话
但是我是签证官，我根本没有心思算现在美国某个时区是几点来决定打哪个电话，一旦
打了一个没有人接，已经一分多钟过去了。每次面谈一共能给申请人几个一分钟？心里
多少有些不爽，信息不能确认，放还是据？大家自己体会一下

wow, didn't realize there are so many loopholes in it. I started to use this
letter back in 1999, when I had no kid. Of course, I updated the letter
each time i used it, but main thing remained the same. I guess I am really
lucky then.
Well even it is not a good example, but still a good 'negative example' for
things that should be avoided :-)
BTW, my parents have their real estate proof and bank statement provided
too. I never came to this forum before (other than a few days ago, I was
trying to find out if there is any post about how to entertain old people
here and found this thread nobody answered).
Anyway, good lucky for all those people who is waiting for their parents to
come over --- I feel it is quite easy now, since Chinese is much richer now,
I seldom heard any rejection from my surrondings in the past few years. On
the other hands, a lot of nephew/niece/uncle/auntie came out without problem
. This is a good sign.:-)

像这种情况，这些内容该如何提及呢？这肯定是一条比较好的约束力吧？总不能放掉不
说？如果说的话，有什么更好的方式点出来么？
