My opinion is buy an electric guitar instead of an acoustic.
Here by electric I mean solid body, not the
electric-acoustic guitars. There are a lot of reasons for
that.
a. E-Guitar is much more widely used in contemprary music,
whether you are interested in
pop/rock/metal/jazz/blues/folk/country/what ever. Acoustics
are only popular in folk/country, though it is used in
(soft) rock sometimes.
b. E-Guitar has lower action(the height of the string to
finger board), thinner finger board and use
