I setup an FTP server after a router. And I use virtual server
mechanism to open the FTP service to WAN. But when I use passive
mode to connect the FTP server from outside, it doesn't work.
It works when I disable the passive mode.
Why is it like this? Any explanation?

You ftp server doesn't support passive mode.

No. Before I installed the router, I can use "passive mode" to connect.

firewall is the problem.
passive mode is usually used when client is behind firewall,
not the other way around.
