I am talking about $15 per class. One week one class. Each semester/season
is at least 10 classes. that is $150!!! If buy a dance card, still costs $
125 for 10 classes. That is expensive!!
The Zumba class I am taking is free for my fitness membership. If I want to
take it outside, I know a good teacher who offers $5 per class. But I can'
t find a ballet teacher doing that. That frustrated me!

i know what you are talking about $15 per class (~ 1hr)
with decent teacher is a bargain.

ya, it is about an hr class. With a decent teacher it is a bargin.
But I am not a professional, and I do this only because I am interested in,
so a descent teacher or a just fine teacher does not make too much
difference for me. Thus why I am thinking to buy the DVD and practice at
home. But not sure which DVD is good.

i really mean to use "decent" in the loosest sense.
in comparison, a ballroom group lesson costs 10-15 bucks, some of them are e
ven by not so fine teachers.

um, I see what you are saying now. Maybe I am just so used to take the free
dance class or hear about the $5 dance class. The ballet class was free in
my fitness program, then they stopped it in the summer. I hope they could
restart it in the Fall.

Hehe you need a good instructor, not only she/he will point out improvements
for you, but also you need a lot of guidance and proper technique to avoid
injuries to your knee and feet.
I remember some studio in NYC offers $12-14 classes, alvin ailey i believe.
My own ballet studio charges me $12/session (big city) too. Where do you
live?

I watched that NY City Ballet Work out. It has 2 DVDs. The 2nd one seems
better than the 1st one. It is more of an exercise though.
Found this: The Ballet Class for the beginers. It has instructions.
I think I will also go take the class, just need to decide which one I am going, my fitness program or a formal dance studio? The first one is cheaper, but the second one may be better, but a lot of driving. so...T
The fall season starts next month.
