Actually it's quite simple, but needs some wild imagination. :)
1. Edit your doc in word97
2. After finish, Ctrl+A to select all text, and Ctrl+C to copy it
3. Launch Photoshop or Paintshop, or even paintbrush, whatever,
4. Open a new doc in photoshop, Ctrl+V to paste the text,
5. Save the new picture as GIF format
that's all!
