Some people installed Alexa toolbar. When they surf the internet, the links
they visited was given to Alexa. So, your traffic = Alexa toolbar installers
' visit to your site * total internet user / alexa toolbar installer. It is
biased though.

they give aggregate from multiple sources.
also, sites with ranking > 100,000, the ranking may not be accurate.

还有就是，想知道alexa是如何rank站点的，可以去alexa工作 ;-)

Also, it is logical for Alexa to change their ranking scheme.
我觉得他们应该是用搜索引擎的技术去做的。
另外，其实，如果我是搜狐的话，可以用搜狗拼音来实现这个ranking, 做个比alexa更
好的东东。哈哈哈
