Description:
The Internet Engineer/Application Developer is responsible for developing,
maintaining and supporting multiple new and existing external and internal
facing web applications with many dynamic modules. The Internet Engineer/
Application Developer coordinates efforts and collaborates with other
developers, designers, usability specialists, content producers and managers
in executing and deploying projects. Additionally, the Internet Engineer/
Application Developer analyzes requirements, creates project estimates, and
creates approach, technical and design documentation. This position
involves constant development of new projects and enhancements, often
several at a time.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, tests, debug and maintain JSP, JAVA/J2EE Applications
, Servlets, HTML, XML, XSLT, PERL and CGI scripts for multiple websites and
modules.
Design and develop database schemas to support web applications using
DB2.
Manage integration of web applications with backend databases.
Develop and deploy web based applications and software.
Collaborate with team members, key departments within the organization,
management and project managers to produce project plans, design and
approach documentation, support schedules, implementation plans, status
reports and analysis documentation.
Support technology used within the organization and the department
including SVN and Perforce.
Provide customer and production support in a 24 X 7 environment.
Familiarize the department with changing technical procedures and
guidelines, digest technical policies and monitor how it relates to the
department.
Provide input and technical consultation in identifying and implementing
new uses of information technologies that assist the functional business
units in meeting their strategic objectives.
Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommends the most
efficient application programming solution.
Implement solutions to solve complex problems associated with computer
equipment, capacity, limitations, and performance.
Stay current on emerging technology trends.
Participate in code reviews and application transition to support team.
Participate in “Lessons Learned” process to provide information to
help OCC choose practices, methodologies, tools, technologies and
programming languages.
Participates on technical committees and councils and provides input and
feedback to management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Excellent and proven verbal and written communication skills, analytical
abilities, sound judgement and project management skills.
4-6 years experience developing web sites and web application projects
in a Java/J2EE environment utilizing the SDLC Life cycle.
Experience supporting production environments and providing real time
support.
Experience with creating project plans, project management.
Experience implementing adaptive software development processes such as
Agile or Scrum.
Must be competent in all phases of application development and
implementation.
Has a thorough understanding of business or function for which
applications are designed.
Ability to work effectively with customers, management and staff.
Technical Requirements:
Expert knowledge of Core JAVA/J2EE Applications, JDK 1.5 & 1.6, XML,
JavaScript (EXT JS or jQuery Libraries preferred) JSP, Servlets, Struts or
Spring Framework (Spring Preferred), MVC, XML, XSLT, Perl, CGI, HTML, CSS
Experience utilizing Eclipse/RAD IDE
Working knowledge of DB2, SQL Server and SQL language.
Nice to have experience with IBM HTTP Server (Apache), Spring TC Server,
Nice to have experience with Portlets and IBM Websphere Portal.
Nice to have experience with Content Management Systems
Nice to have experience with UNIX environments and shell scripting.
Nice to have experience with Microsoft SharePoint and SharePoint
Designer Application
