FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- American Airlines said Thursday that traffic in
May rose 4.1 percent, adding to the list of carriers that are experiencing
stronger traffic than a year ago.
American said paying passengers flew 10.81 billion miles last month, up from
10.38 billion in May 2009. International traffic surged higher by 8.8
percent, led by routes to Latin America and the Pacific, while domestic
travel rose just 1.4 percent.
Continental and US Airways also said this week that traffic rose in
