One big benefit of hedging over reducing position is tax. If your hedging
position loses, you claim loss. If your hedging position profits, then it
worked.
On the other hand, if you reduce position, you have to report profit on the
gain.
Of course people here pursues profits of at least 200% monthly and the tiny
tax benefit is negligible.
