I bought a town house in 2011 for 125K, it was pretty new. Very few money needed to repair. At one time, the similar town house sold for around 110K. But I really don't care. Why? My net income was around 12,000/year(very limited effect for maintain.. .), so in 10 years, I will get all my investment back. So the biggest thing for investing in the housing is return. So don't worry about the short term fluctation, as long as the return makes sense, go for it.
