If you play mining stocks I'd recommend trading GDX instead. It does not have the quarterly earning disruption. Not too sure about GFI so I'll just work on GG a little bit.
Look at the COT chart. There are too many speculators in the silver market, even more than the gold market. Big buyers would not want to enter the market when too many speculators already drive the price high so we now have a market structure of speculators VS PET. PET usually beats speculators down, and then big buyers may come back to the buy side after that.

with all the QEs after the crisis gold is 60% higher than its pre-crisis high of ~$1000 silver is 50% higher than its pre-crisis high of ~$20 S&P 500 is still a bit short of its pre-crisis high copper and oil are still well below their highs people should look at a bigger picture to see what has happened

Major improvement on latest gold COT chart. If this is not a bottom then we are not far away from it. Next COT might look even better Silver picture is getting better as well, though not as impressive as gold chart.

We have CRIMEX OE and GDP next week and employment data the week after so volatility is here to stay.
