Verisign is Registry, registry service provider. Godadday is registrar,
registry service consumer. Godaday resells domains to end user and earns
money mainly from add on services (security certificate, hosting, email, etc
.).
Verisign manages .com, .net, .gov and some other root level domains.
Verisign also operates 2 of the 13 root servers.
Verisign manages >60% of all domain names. For each .com domain (around 100M
) and .net (around 15M) verisign charges around $7 a year. That's the main
revenue source. This part is very established business.
Verisign is seeking other opportunities to provide add services to registry,
such as idefense, etc. This part is growing and has yet seen stable revenue.

谢谢，古板还是有Internet高人，我就担心什么时候ICANN突然中断和VeriSign的合同

I am not 高人。I just happen to knowVerisign. The 6-year is not a rebid, but
a renewel. As long as Verisign fulfill its responsibilities, it gets the
next six year. Neither ICCAN nor VRSN can afford change.

stronger than vrsn. Fundamentally both are good companies.
I have been following wwww for a few months. will enter again when it breaks
out.

WWWW 财政情况比VRSN差太多了，earning还是负的，还是不要考虑了，除非你有更深的
