About to buy FNMA in my Scottrade...

set a limit order say $1.65 not the market price

Could you explain a little more about why this happens? Just for my
knowledge, (a very newbie)...

The reason is very simply as you saw
"
orders for Bulletin Board, Pink Sheet and
Foreign ADR/ORD securities must be placed as limit orders
"
depending on the market bid/ask.
You need to "bid" higher than the "ask" price to make the deal...
It is the tricky part....You may need to set the "bid" price much higher
than the current price to buy in the shares and set the "ask" price much
lower than the current price to sell out......
