On a positive note, Fairway’s most recent store opening in October in the
New York suburb of Nanuet has topped company expectations by all metrics,
with sales 20% better than its original projection, the 14-store chain said.
Fairway said it’s also increasing its private label food items to increase
its profit margin.
“Clearly, it is disappointing to see downward revisions in quarters
following an IPO,” said William Blair analyst Mark Miller in a report. “We
recognize, however, that the ultimate opportunities for this company are
not short term in nature. We remain encouraged by the robust real estate
pipeline over the next two years and believe the company is on track to hit
its targets here. ”
The same bet on the “ultimate opportunities” can also be said about
Twitter.
