如果2/5 卖了股票，应该能收到dividend? 2/4号卖了那？

What does the Record Date mean?
Shareholders who properly registered their ownership on or before the record
date (or "date of record") will receive the dividend. Shareholders who are
not registered as of this date will not receive the dividend. Registration
in most countries is essentially automatic for shares purchased before the
ex-dividend date.

Tuesday, 9/10/2013
On July 26, 2013, Company XYZ declares a dividend payable on September 10,
2013 to its shareholders. XYZ also announces that shareholders of record on
the company's books on or before August 12, 2013 are entitled to the
dividend. The stock would then go ex-dividend two business days before the
record date.
In this example, the record date falls on a Monday. Excluding weekends and
holidays, the ex-dividend is set two business days before the record date or
the opening of the market—in this case on the preceding Thursday. This
means anyone who bought the stock on Thursday or after would not get the
dividend. At the same time, those who purchase before the ex-dividend date
on Thursday will receive the dividend.

I still dont understand.
Can you buy the stock the day before the ex-dividend date and sell it before
the record date? does it really matter when I sell it, it sounds like as
long as you buy it before the ex-dividend date, it is fine??

buy on 2/3
sell on 2/4
you can still collect dividend
but if you buy on 2/4 you won't get dividend

Does the dividend depend on the holding time?
For the case mentioned above, if I buy on 2/1 and sell on 2/3, am I going to
get the dividend?
