you should be able to get back your passport and fly back to China. i would
think. what is your major? What kind of check you have? Administrative
Processing? or PIMS? if PIMS should be quick

Thank you so much for the good advice! I should have taken the passport with
me, but now it is still with the US Embassy...not sure how I can get it
back at this point...any suggestions?

Yeah in principle, but do you know how to get it back? I sent them an email
already but no reply...Shall I try to call the number to make appointment?
That one is terribly expensive--costing me 70$ by making just two calls...
