Dear Senator Grassley,
Senator Grassley, during your over-half-century diligent service to this
country and the State of Iowa, you've earned your name as the American
Worker Protectionist. We already lost our battle in competing for low-end
manufacturing jobs with China and India. We need your protection in helping
preserve these high-skilled job opportunities and opportunities created by
immigrants-launched companies. These high-skilled immigrants already
enjoyed our education benefits, including scholarships and tax deductibles,
and learned their professional skills from our world-renowned universities
and research centers. Please do NOT give them up to the foreign governments
before they make any contribution to our economy!
With all due respect - it is paradoxically true that the more you try to
protect U.S. citizens from losing jobs to foreigners by putting H.R.3012 on
hold, the more U.S. citizens will lose jobs!!
52% of Silicon Valley start-ups were launched by immigrants, including
Google, eBay, Intel and Yahoo!. These high-tech companies provided tens of
thousands of job opportunities to us Americans, even during the economic
downturn. Our current immigrant policies are sending these immigrants with
advanced degree back to their home countries - mostly China and India -
where their governments are eagerly welcoming them to build up their own
Silicon Valley. Had H.R.3012 not been passed and motivated these high-
skilled immigrants to stay, we would have been using our limited higher
education resource for the good of Chinese and Indian governments!
