现在有个头疼的问题。
9个月工资给的不少，很competitive了。可是startup fund给的很少，也就6万多，买
了仪器，电脑server，可能连学生都招不上了，更别提付自己的summer salary了。我
觉得这有点欺负我了。
我想问问
1.没有summer salary很正常么？？？？？？？
2.我能negotiate startup fund到13万么？这样我可以招一个两年post doc。可是我觉
得一下子要double的钱，觉得象狮子大开口，怕人家吓到，然后收回offer。我觉得我
这钱要的不多了，我还不是生物化学的专业呢，，，，
这个学校是个150名开外的南方州立破学校。。。。

女儿七岁半，好像从来没有过，离我两厘米左右就能闻到一股很难闻的酸臭味，好像跟
刷牙没有关系，虽然刚刷完以后没有这种难闻的味道。她也不光是早晨刚起床有这个问
题，刚才下午四点来钟坐我身边也能闻到。
这种现象持续了一个星期左右了，我是不是应该带她去看看牙医？
多谢！
p.s. 她上个月半年牙医检查的时候告知上边有三个牙有cavity.也想顺便请教一下，这
些牙要去补吗？孩子目前倒不疼。现在是换牙阶段，我们琢磨是不是那些有洞的牙也就
很快掉了。

我觉得可以，关键是要把原因和和你的工作挂钩。告诉对方你希望尽快设立起一个
competitive work group 好尽快为系里招来外来资金，所以你希望是否可以给这么多
来支持至少两个学生。我以前写过一个帖子，在顶上还挂着。

吃益生菌试试，一段时间之后要是不灵，可以考虑是牙的问题。

I am VERY grateful for the 60,000 startup funds, but it would be better if
you can raise the amount enough for a two-year postdoc for my lab. I have
many data and a variety of ideas that I would like to quickly translate into
papers, proposals and grants to gain momentum for my research lab. I can
really use the efforts of a postdoc for my first two years to start a
competitive research lab. Later when my lab is progressing steadily on the
right track and I become familiar with teaching and supervising students, I
will start to take Ph.D. students.

多谢大家出的点子建议。很奇怪，这一两天去闻，好像那个臭味就没了。吃的上面我们
没有什么巨变，所以不应该是问题。孩子刷牙倒是勤快多了，她也很有荣辱感。所以莫
非是刷牙的问题？
不管怎样，多谢大家帮忙出主意！

不需要大写VERY
语法需要改一改。
这一句要改：
I have many data and a variety of ideas that I would like to quickly
translate into xxx, xxx, and xxx
比方说可以改成：
I have a substantial amount of data and ideas for future projects that can
quickly translate into xxx, xxx, and xxx. However, to start those projects
in a timely manner, the assistance of a skilled researcher, preferably a
postdoc, would be extremely desirable.

我家儿子1岁半，离我2cm左右也能闻到一种味道，比较淡，远了闻不到。我家每天晚上
刷牙的，他牙不多，10颗。他胃口很好，什么都吃。大便也正常，每天1-2次，量和干
稀都正常。
跟风问这有可能是什么造成？

research lab? Below is the ballpark to get my lab to quickly gain momentum
and generate productivity:
i). 3 workstations, $8000 each;
ii). a two-year postdoc, $100,000 in total;
iii). other research costs, including conference travel expenses,
publication fee and membership fee ~$6000 for two year
e Total amount would be about $130,000 for the first two years.
2. I’d like to know if my summer salary can come from the startup funds. If
not, what other sources are there for summer salary?
3. If possible, I’d like XXX to sponsor my permanent residence application,
in particular eb1b application, soon after I join XXX. This is very
important for me to attend international conferences and explore
international cooperation. Under a normal H1B work permit, I need to get US
visa every time I travel internationally. This is very troublesome given
that the possibility of being rejected an US visa is not low. You may not be
familiar with such immigration matters, and may need to consult HR or
International scholar officer for details.
4. I’d like to know the details of the relocation package. It will be a big
project to move from aaa to bbb. I’d prefer to know the budget for

我看了觉得一些口气比较主观，不是很客观。口气可能需要改一点。我上面写的那个可
以作为你的参考例子。
关于绿卡申请的那个一般都是由学校政策决定的而不是negotiate 来的。那个我觉得你
可以放在其他email 里面询问。
