其实在linux下也就这两个editor（vim，emacs）了。别的都不如这两个强.
vim/gvim是unix标准的，emacs不是标准不过用的很普遍。

其实emacs是标准的增强版，我个人还是喜欢xemacs,感觉更顺手一些。

If you don't like to learn emacs or vi (which I do not think it is necessary
nowadays, unlike some people here may insist), kile is a LaTeX editor similiar
to WinEdt under Windows. It is a KDE app. It is pretty good, give it a try.

Nod, Kile is very good, with srcltx.sty file you can do forward/backwark
search, which I found is very useful.

kile is really a good one, like vc environment. beautiful and stylish. i
think it's much better than winedt.
the only thing i hate is it has no cite hint.
