this question is too system dependent. On Solaris, a better
way is use lpc. then type stat. On other systems, one has
to man lp, find FILES section and locate spool directory.
And from there, locate the interface/ directory which has a
list of printers installed. /etc/*print* is also a good
way of locating printers.
