what is the "core" in directory.# Unix - 噫吁兮,危乎高哉

normally when I 'ls -l', i can see a file named 'core', which is relatively big?
what is that file? is it any function?
i did delete it several times, no big problem shows.
however after several days, it turns big again.

just delete it. it is generated by some application crashing.

add the following line in your .*rc file:
ulimit -c 0
and it will never happen again
