FAINT,我这里怎么没有rpm命令
只有rpm2cpio命令,不能解

rpm is for redhat only

Mandrake seems to have it too, but never tried.

anyway, mandrake is just modification of redhat bah

RPM is RedHat Package Manager(Management), but now many other distributions
are using it, coz it is really convenient for software installation and
uninstallation. go rpmfind.net to see how many distributions are using it.
you can get the tarball from rpm if you can only deal with tar.gz or tgz stuff.
but basically, if your rpm is binary only, then not too much use on other OS,
while if it is source rpm, then you can get out the source code tarball from
it and compile on your own platform.
